Museum of dell’Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore
The museum is situated behind the apse of the cathedral. The places that today entertain the collection, saw once the work of the greatest artists of the rinascimento: Donatello, Brunelleschi and naturally Michelangelo, that really in the old courtyard it seems that he exculpate his famous David.
THE COLLECTION
The Museum, inaugurated in 1891, conceives for entertaining the works of art removed from the Cathedral, the Crypt, the Bell tower, the Baptistery and deposited in the stores of the 0pera during the centuries. Present works of art: The Madonna with the Eyes of glass of Arnolfo di Cambio; the two graven choirs from Donatello and from Luca della Robbia; the Prophet Abacuc and the Maddalena of Donatello; the Pieta' Bandini of Michelangelo; the precious tiles of the door of the heaven of the Baptistery of the Ghiberti
