FIESOLE one of the most fascinating archaeological parks in Italy lies in the wonderful landscape of Tuscan hills: Etruscan temple, Roman amphitheatre and thermal baths. The Archaeological Museum contains objects dating from prehistorical times to the Middle Ages. An important collection of paintings and sculptures from 10th to 18th century, including many Della Robbia terracottas, is displaied in the Bandini Museum.

In the church of the Monastery of San Domenico (15th century) you can see a magnificient altar piece by the friar Beato Angelico, who lived and worked here. At only few meters there is the abbey Badia Fiesolana (early 11th century) with an impressive facade made of white and green marble.

In the ticket of entry (Euro 10,00) to the Archaeological Park, Archaeological Museum and Museum Bandini is inclusive:

- on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from the 10-13 and from the 15-19 and Tuesday -Wednesday from 15-19 o'clock the visit to the garden of Villa Peyron in the Wood of attainable Shining Source with the bus shuttle, inclusive in the price of the ticket, for going and return.

- on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 at 13 o'clock the visit to the Museum of the Foundation Primo Conti, always connected with the shuttle bus, inclusive in the ticket, ( return).

From April 15 in the ticket of entry (Euro 13,00) to the Archaeological Park, Archaeological Museum, Museum Bandini, Villa Peyron (or Museum Primo Conti) is inclusive the entry to the show of George De Chirico in the Basilica of S.Alessandro in the same days and schedules of the Archaeological Park.

FIESOLE

Park of MONTECECERI  200 meters away from the entrance of the CampingFamous since the Middle Ages for its Tuscan Gray stone quarries. At the top an inscribed pillar recalls Leonardo da Vinci’s “flight”experiment.The caves of Fiesole, you exploit up to the beginnings of the Nine hundred, they are famous for the stone sandstone, the so-called one "stone fiesolana", broadly employed by sculptors since the century XV. Remembered from Welcome Cellini and from George Vasari, the stone fiesolana was perfectly lent for architectural and monumental works, but also for elements, more refined, of I furnish civil, sacred and urban, so much to be pushed the government mediceo to effect a severe politics of control of the exploitation. Between the XVII and the XVIII century, in fact, the caves of the fiesolano were "you banish" and reserved exclusively to the Florentine monuments. Among the last works realized with the stone fiesolana, the columns of the atrium, the staircase and other architectural elements of the Central National Library in Florence they are remembered. Today in the area a park has been prepared, whose crossed they show the fundamental types of the ancient caves: cuts her/it, to open sky and the latomia or it extracts thrusted, artificial caves with his/her own feet of support.

From Fiesole to St. Domenico

From Piazza Mino keep going Via Vecchia Fiesolana you can see on the right hand Villa Medici.

In the point in which the road divides, to the left you go down toward St. Domenico passing in front of different historical villas; to the right you reach  Fonte Lucente characteristic place with a nice church.

From the camping to the stop take to the right. You walk about 600meters and you take the right Via Giovanni Leader beautiful road among woods of cypresses, with sight on Florence. The Poggio is an ancient construction of medieval origins then reconstructed in the 800. Maintaining on the right you go down to valley through a wood of pines and you will find to the chiesetta of St. Lorenzo, built in 1301 and restored in 1500. You continue up to the Castle of Vincigliata of the 1031 and reconstructed in 1860. on the way Villa Peyron and its park: visitable on booking nly tel 055 264321. In Settignano a visit to Villa Gamberaia.

From the Camping to Fiesole

At the end of the road of the camping  keep  right Via Corsica than turn left Via dei Poeti  continue to the left Via Mari Via Montececeri and Via Verdi from here a beautiful view on Florence and to the calar of the sun an unforgettable show of the city' and of the river Arno than you reach Piazza Mino da Fiesole.
